"Awful."

submission: GOTHCLAWZ
date: May 22, 2008

New review restrictions prohibit me from being mean about this review and get away with it, but it is still 'bad'. And that is because what you did, is take a couple frames of madness characters along with exceptionally loud music, and made it a swf. file. Personally, I think the only it got through the portal is because of unfair play. Further more, constant tracking has shown you most likely get other people to vote up your movies, which are all in fact, sub par.

I sincerely hope this is removed somehow. An offensive reply will be replied to over other media forms.

Attack of the Evil TV 2

"Freaking wonderful, even better than #1."

date: January 26, 2007

I would like to start with saying this movie is absolutely worthy of the award it got, and I’m glad I caught it because it was just awesome and hilarious in every aspect, nothing was below average and hardly anything that wasn’t flawless. So, visually the drawings are marvelous, detailed characters, figures, clothes and...Boobies. Animation fitted it and was just as incredible, smooth motion and accurate lip synching. Despite having to change styles of drawings pretty much a lot, from small sprite like figure to full sized human pouncing on breasts. Another reason you deserve a standing ovation. The style was constant in its genre all the way through. The comedy feel of it cannot be denied and it just worked out perfectly, it made me laugh and would have made no matter when. Voices while often having 2 played by the same person ( I can understand a person can only get so much help on getting voice actors ) it was still wonderful and a joy to hear, though I think some voices may need a small touch on the clarity. Music was at an abundance and always seemed to match just right even though I don’t think you mentioned that numa song in the entry page, though I think credits had it, no matter. Next up is violence, another serious matter, turned funny. There were a couple small fights but it’s nothing you haven’t mentioned in “Mild violence”. Now to interactivity, the good old play button, a site link and the replay. I however missed a bit first time watching it, so I had to watch it again, though it was of course not boring, a pause, scene select or a seek do come in handy every now and then. A quality control isn’t so urgent as the quality of the movie was average. In regards of humor it was brilliant, just about every second I did watch it was funny and fun to watch. Every scene was great in that field. Diversity says a lot in just about every flash and makes it either interesting and being able to watch it again or being dull and intolerable. This flash however did great in diversity, it kept things interesting all through out the flash, credits and even on the 7th time watching it again. As well as the clearly great effort that was put into this, the originality of continuing the random adventures of the now series, you created. Congrats. And overall, it’s beautiful, a bit of a touch on interactivity, and even I would be of no right to complain. I’ll shut up a bit and move on to more objective descriptions now even though they won’t be.

Graphics: 10, Clear animation and drawings, well drawn as well as animated. Ranged a bit through different types of animation as the channels switched but overall it stayed the same and good as such. And of course the most impressive part, the animation of...Boobs.

Style: 9, The style of comedy that sticks all through out the movie, varying from different types. From emo jokes to physical and verbal comedy. I for one thought it was great and funny. I don’t understand how any one could not like that form but I enjoyed it plenty.

Sound: 10, Voice acting was nearly flawless. And despite the minor fact that often 1 person plays 2 roles it still usually goes unnoticed. It’s probably getting enough voice actors any way. Background music was very good and only complemented the voices, which may need a bit more clarity.

Violence: 5, Not a lot of fighting or swearing or anything like that, only mildly and that was already notified so there is nothing any one can complain about, but it was still funny. The couple of fights definitely raised my interest in the movie. Good work, keep it up.

Interactivity: 6, It had the classic standard play button and replay, a link to the site, but it could have used some other touched. The seek option or a pause button, even a scene select would really help. But I will give you this, it was interesting enough to watch several times if you missed a bit.

Humor: 10, Very humorous flash in my opinion, just about every moment makes you laugh. Absolutely nothing here any one could ever complain about.

Overall: 10, Awesome movie, enjoy your newly acquired series.

Duck Luck Episode #4

"Honestly, dreadful voices."

date: January 26, 2007

I have taken the appropriate time to watch the entire series that you made and quite honestly I must say I was actually a bit disappointed. In many flash makers you see improvement from each movie they make, a new technique, better voice acting. You however remain drifting in the same level of animating skill and voice acting which I found disappoint, now agreed, I have not made any flash worthy of submitting, but I have been judging flash successfully for over 2 years and I should know the difference. Now, visually the series progressed very little from first. It still has that simplistic way of drawing and animating, the drawing isn’t bad when it’s still but the animation usually only makes it worse, not a lot above average in my opinion. Same goes with style, just another attempt at comedy, one I find a bit boring. It just isn’t so funny, I mean, even the “Oye” as the guy gets kicked out of the house just isn’t right. It’s all wrong in essence. And the voices, I’m sorry to burst the bubble but it needs much work. The microphone just feels cheap and the voices lack clarity. Not only clarity but character, it just isn’t right for the voice of a small child to be that of a grown man. Get a new voice for it or improve your own. It just so horrible my ears bled. Violence was odd as well some how, the spanking? It is just getting too weird and less funny if you ask me. Interactivity was actually the one thing better than what I had anticipated. You had subtitles which made it nicer mostly because voices were nearly unbearable. I understand you were awarded for this flash but I also don’t understand how so. Yes, it’s not bad but I would have never figured it would a slow enough day, and a medium well flash would win an award. However I still believe it’s nothing to be excited because of since it just disappointed me. In humor it was no success either, for some reason or another I just didn’t find it funny it all, like a sunken ship if anything. And overall it just not that good. It’s average, absolutely average and it must have been a slow day for you to win. But I will suggest some things for you to improve and maybe earn that award again and even more. Biggest problems to me, voices and animation, improve those and it will be much better. Now for the detailed explanation:

Graphics: 7, drawings weren’t awful but I suspect your animation needs some improving. You need to learn a bit on proportions and while the comic book style isn’t bad you might consider improving it as well a bit, you know, it couldn’t hurt now could it.

Style: 7, the simple style of comedy. Even though I hate calling it that as it’s not the least bit funny. Yes, you did try to make something, and to make it funny, but it just isn’t. If there is anything that will help you improve this is the voices and animation. The voices being the worst.

Sound: 5, The voices were no good if you ask me, they all sounded quite similar and blurry. The clarity level of the voices was pretty bad. What you need is distinguishing voices that will not sound alike, not to even mention the main character has the voice of some small child.

Violence: 4, Violence does exist here but is poorly done. All I could see in this one was the whip, but that was both weird, badly drawn and boring to be considered violent. Needs much more work.

Interactivity: 6, It did have subtitles which is good considering that the voices are pretty annoying to listen to. But what I believe it needs is not a seek, or a pause button. What this flash needs is a mute button.

Humor: 5, It wasn’t the least bit funny in my opinion. It was boring and didn’t manage to maintain my interest, much less cause me to laugh or really enjoy it. Needs a lot of work to improve. Put in some real jokes instead of this dull and failing physical comedy. Make a remark, make a come back to it, any thing as long as you remove the dreadful boredom.

Overall: 6, now you’ve heard all I have to say and you probably hate me, but that doesn’t matter, because one way or another, it’s due time you improve man. Good luck next time.

Author's Response:

Woah I looked at your reviews and they are all this long. Dang! Thanks for the review (or should I call it an essay?), as I'm making DL5 I'm realizing how not-so-great this one was (though I still think its good). Thanks.

Boxhead :The Rooms

"Terrific Lego style game."

submission: Boxhead :The Rooms
date: January 26, 2007

Let me start off saying how damn original this game is, much like Lego Star Wars, Lego makes just about any genre and anything, more fun. It is very satisfying to shoot Lego zombies on a Lego field with a Lego hero. The speed and movement of all the animation was just fine and worked well. It was intuitive and convenient. The actual game play was very good, excluding one itty bitty problem with it. While the different array of weapons is very nice, shooting in any way that wasn’t straight forward, back or to the sides ( by that I mean diagonal ) was usually more frustrating. The background sounds were will fitted and matched well enough to compliment the game. Even though it is a Zombie killing Lego game, it is still a pretty violent one. The firing of all the different weapons in addition to the blood make it an officially violent game, it would be nice if gore was optional for the sake of younger players. As for the game’s interactivity, control was simple and weapons selection simple and effective. Humor in this game is usually self induced such as blocking zombies into a maze or blockade with a dead end, all those are a lot of fun as well as just smashing the lot of them with a Shotgun. Overall the game is quite addictive and fun to play, but not flawless as I am about to mention.

Despite all its upsides this game has some things I suggest are improved, firstly is the gore on/off option. This would be a nice feature should a small child stumble upon the game just take it as a Lego shooter. Gore on/off options would also widen your audience by your ranking of age to the game which should drop. Next is the dying, while usually hard to avoid once in a while you do die. When a zombie touches you with his attack or from explosion, but the pity here is that we don’t know how far to stay because we have no knowledge about the distance we need to keep, so a health or distance meter would be nice. Other than those the game is quite good. I hope you do manage the time to pay attention to some of these.

And now for a more detailed description on every part of game and its parts:

Graphics: 9, Pretty much every thing I could see was made in 3D, another characteristic of the game, is indeed 3D. The animations were smooth fluent and didn’t lag any time I could notice. It might take a bit more effort in that that are of you but if it could be possible to make the character rotate 360 degrees because aiming and shooting is a but clumsy right now.

Style: 9, A zombie shooting game, made quite well but no plot, and personally I think even the smallest most cheesy plot would be a nice addition to know why are we shooting zombies and stuff like that. Even though that really didn’t handicap the game play it would be nice to have.

Sound: 8, sounds are moderate and with no music during the game play but the sounds are satisfying enough with the sounds. At least every weapon had its own sounds and so did the zombies. Though a couple variations of a zombie voice would be interesting to have. I think that different sounds would give the game a needed touch of some realism.

Violence: 10, Well we are shooting the undead with a wide variety of party weapons from pistols to rail guns…What I think you could use in this game is the one thing you utterly lack, melee weapons, a bat, a chain saw, a pipe, and flail, anything would be nice. I would also love to see some more rare parts in the game that may already exist for all I know but I never found them, by that I mean more divine powers, like invincibility for a duration or an evolution of a weapon ( I.E: Shot gun + ~ point, would create a double shot gun, a flake shot gun, and so on. ).

Interactivity: 9, control was fine, level selection satisfying and offered a wide variety to experiment with. However new kinds of zombies harder to kill would make for a nice touch.

Humor: 9, I laughed when creating the zombies mazes to go through to get to me, then putting a dead end when the finally made it. Self induced humor…Win.

Overall: 9, Some suggestions are acceptable, hope you can improve it more.

Author's Response:

Wow, an even longer review. Thank you for reveiwing the game. I like your point about shooting in all directions, this is difficult unless:
1. You use the mouse as the main contrl
2. or you use a rotation based control system.

Trouble for most people that they are both harder to control.

Music is coming I hope. And more maze like action in the next version Boxhead: More rooms!

Thanks again,
Sean

ANIMATION INVASION

"Sam Raimi copyrights? :-P"

submission: ANIMATION INVASION
date: November 21, 2006

The resemblance to other things here is seen mostly in two things: The creation vs. creator battle using the Flash options and tools like in "Animator vs. Animation". But the way it was done just reminded me of the movie "Army of darkness" so much... I believe you saw it as well because there is a scene filled with miniature versions of the hero who attack him. I think the movie is great and I'd love to make suggestions but I simply have none for this because for it's genre it's flawless in my view. Good job, and if you ever make a flash directly based on "Army of darkness", let me know.

Author's Response:

actually no, i didnt see army of darkness. though i am a fan of this zombie type movies, i love the movie BRAIN DEAD (Dead Alive) but i kinda imagined this to be more of a Gulliver's Travels thing... the animation vs. animator, yea i can see how people find the similarities but no matter how fake it sounds i was actually already animating the guy jump into my face when i saw that toon in the portal XD seriouse.

Red Baron

"Good game, but not player friendly."

submission: Red Baron
date: November 15, 2006

Surprisingly Xiayohen Said a lot of things I planned to say as well, but I won’t let that hold me back. But to him I must say, hell of a review.

Now, the game itself was beyond the definition of beauty. My only suggestions for the game are difficulty levels and checkpoints more through out the level, because by level 4, it’s rather hard just to get past the darn level. The reason I ask for these is because I utterly suck at this game. People who are as clumsy and useless as me need difficulty settings that will help get through an annoying level or if it’s hard to fight with a slow computer and just in my case a dysfunctional internet connection. You could always mock the ones who need it by calling the difficulties much like they did in Doom back in the day, (Wimp, Peasant, Baron, etc…). I found the game excellent, but so frustrating. I for one couldn’t finish it. And won’t bother trying because it’s way too much bloody work. A game is supposed to be challenging, but never to the point of impossible to pass unless the player chooses so. I’d also like to join the number of people who like me rant about the auto change of weapons in mid game. I want pressing the S key actually meaning something, I want to see that if I chose to use a Scythe or claws, I can use as much as I want, and not complete a combo just to go back to the scrappy sword I start out with despite the possibility to buy cigarette or sword fish and cats and what not, I’d prefer to stick to what I choose. What point is there to changing weapons by a key when they choose when to change themselves? Making the weapon changes permanent until the player, the person for whom the game was made for chooses otherwise is recommended. So in conclusion of suggestions, there is much to work on to improve this game into being player friendly but for most of its ingredients it’s pretty good.

Now for the game’s complete statistics:

Graphics: 10, Beautifully drawn and animated. All the drawings were incredible and very detailed. The animation was very smooth and fluent. The visuals of the game are great in every aspect.

Style: 10, The plot was beautiful. Every medieval hack and slash out there has a huge revolving plot around it ( especially ones like Diablo ), but a knight fighting innocent people he thinks are enemies because he had a lot of ”shrooms”. I thought the plot was hilarious, I wish more plots were like that.

Sound: 9, the background sounds and music were all very good. The hacking noises is what you hear mostly through out the game, the thing that troubled me a bit is how repetitive the sounds are. If it’s realistic sounds you are after hear, every weapon would sound differently when hitting different things. And is it even possible to break the mail box?

Violence: 10 hacking and slashing through everything that moves and some things that don’t, a huge cough full of blood with every little hit, which by the way got a bit annoying because after you get hit once and more enemies show up it’s like some sort of paralyses you can’t escape. My keyboard (which by the way now lies in ruins) stopped working for a second and I’m dead because four more bastards showed up and I can’t fight back.

Interactivity: 8 All of my suggestions mentioned above would really help. The option of re starting levels and bosses for a symbolic fee is good, but I’m most bothered with the fact that weapons choose when to change despite your wishes. That really should be fixed into a setting where number buttons choose weapons, and stay that way until I choose otherwise.

Humor: 9 The actual plot line is very funny, it’s not a knight saving some one, or on a journey or kill some one, it’s just a knight (or is it Baron) high on mushrooms and set out to kill everything it sees. The drawings at the end of every level that I’ve seen, including the you lost screen, were all funny descriptions like cleaning up the mess of all the killing and things that just make you laugh.

Overall: 10 In general the game is spectacular but some things I didn’t some things I expended on that before.

Author's Response:

thanks for you awesome and detailed review.the auto-switching weapon is definitely a love it or hate it mechanic. it was experimental, and not something you usually see in a brawler. basicly we were going with the opposite effect here.. normally a brawler makes it very hard to combo, we made that somewhat easy, and even reward you still.. .. we wanted people to use simple tactics againts bosses, that required you *NOT* to combo.. its kinda of braintease, because you have to go against what you think is easy to win.. alot of the bosses are weaker against certain weapons, and you as the player must ask yourself " do I stop this combo, and quickly kill this boss? or maintain this combo for more points and coin, thus opening myself to a counter attack?" but yeah like I said, that was never straightfoward and obvious, but thats what we were experimenting with.

thanks for you crits tho! they are very much appreciated

Bluetack Episode 1

"Hilarious movie."

submission: Bluetack Episode 1
date: November 14, 2006

I’ll start by congratulating you on the daily award which you rightfully earned. And now to proceed to the actual movie, the writing was quite funny. It wasn’t sophisticated or anything but it didn’t have to be because we like superficial pointless violence and humor and as Stamper said so wisely once, cock jokes. The animation and drawings were quite good. Nothing too incredible but visibly good. It wasn’t spectacular but definitely good enough to get the point out without damaging the film’s quality. The animation was also good on its own. The comic style was very good in my opinion. The jokes were funny and the little remarks on the walls and what not were only adding to it like Easter eggs. I enjoyed the “blue is good” one and the “Penis & the other thing”. As for the sounds, it was good but I must say I felt too much static myself while hearing it. Most voices were very good but the static that was heard in the background was a bit intruding. The pointless violence was helpful. The beaten wife that was beaten to a pulp and claimed to have fallen is great, but not as great as the huge father of the small kid who shoved the alien that phone, or the surgeon who ended up replacing the beaten wife, under rifle threats of course. It was original. After all excluding the smurfs I’ve never seen anything with a theme of only blue people. And I bet the smurfs weren’t as violent. What’s not so original is the idea of those smurfs living in suburban areas, but that’s ok. The movie was quite diverse, several happening and developing at the same time and place. The effort is seen to be great. What I do suggest you add is in the interactivity field. I’d suggest several things, including a seek, mostly because this is a pretty long film and the possibility to stop, rewind, fast forward and play are vital for such length. The movies the Super Flash Bros make is not much longer and they provide with all of those because with a movie that long there is really a problem if you missed a part and want to see it again. The quality can be changed manually but it would be gracious to provide with that option yourself. If not the more complicated seek to help ease some things like missed scenes or just wanting to see one part again, then at lease a scene select, and sub titles. But overall, it’s a great movie and I congratulate you for a job well done.

After that general overview we move on the more pure, more annoying and more pointless statistics:

Graphics: 9, The animation and visuals were all above average, I’d say the level of the flash is great, it could be improved, so could anything, but in this case it’s not necessary.

Style: 10 Just a violent random and funny flash There is a plot, but for once, it’s not a long epic legendary plot but a simple one that’s fun to watch.

Sound: 9 The voices and the writing were both very good but I would say there is some static in the background when they talk which bothers a bit to the whole thing. Though that could be fixed quite easily.

Violence: 9, Some people will call it brutal pointless violence, and what we like about it, as that they are right.

Interactivity: 5, I saw a play and replay button. But that just doesn’t seem like enough. A scene selection or better yet a seek with the options of any media player would come in very handy. So would a quality button and sub titles, there are all not a must, but they will sure be of great help to some. Like a quality button would be helpful to those with the worse computer or a work computer…It’s understandable you don’t have to add any of these options although I think they would bring improvement to any movie. If the sound division is the problem. I’ll direct you once more to what the Super Flash Bros did which was dividing the sound into bits and playing them one at a time. This makes stop and play buttons and synching a bit less accurate, but it’s better than watching half a movie all over again just to see a part you wanted to see and missed.

Humor: 10, Well done and funny writing and animation.

Overall: 10, Minor improvment needed...

Author's Response:

Thanks for the detailed review I agree it should have had a seek option, but I was incredibly lazy after all the problems I had making it work. I will place one on the next one and maybe chapter selections as well. Again thanks for the review.

Christmas Blonde 3 - FULL

"Great work."

date: October 28, 2006

A very funny flash with good animation and professional voices. It's without a doubt a great flash, I'd offer things to improve, but I can't. Though you aren't really like most authors who work at home in a one man crew... Still, you deserve the score.

10 for Graphics, simply because it was flawless, smooth and detailed enough.

9 for style because of its cheery but different holiday theme.

10 for Sound because it was great. everything sounded like those people were right by my side.

8 for Violence because it is a classic theme of sex and violence.

5 for Interactivity, because it had all you needed, nothing fancy is really needed.

10 for humor because I had a wide grin all through out the movie.

and overall, 9. A bit more can be done with interactivity, but a great flash at every other angle.

Author's Response:

Well thank you, thank you. It's always nice to read such praise. We would like to point out, however, that although Betty is not made by one lone man, there really aren't that many people here at Rum Runners... so we certainly feel the pain of that one man crew when taking on such elaborate sequences. "Guess who?"

date: September 22, 2006

Yup, it's me... The guy you describe as a dark, faggoty figure. Not to mention who ever you got to do my voice. The humiliation is far worse than running through the city bare ass... You owe me for this.

Also, next time you want a movie with me in it, get me to do my own voice...

Regardless, the flash was ok, at least it had some animation, and sound. And text, lots of text. And a play button, great.

Author's Response:

You didn't get it at all. You were a big shadow to show your power. At the time it was up to you whether users could join your little blam club or not. So evil + power in the club = big shadow figure.

Also the cock-sucking wasn't to portray you as a homosexual at all. Again it was to show your power, and also it showed that Slash would do anything to re-join the EGB.

Slash would do a better job at your voice in this, since him doing it would add a touch of humour to it.
